Scavenger Hunt Friday – 12/14/18

It’s Friday! A scavenger hunt is on the agenda. I am getting more comfortable walking around the city and exploring. These little goats and piggies are right outside the hotel room. A vendor selling cheese, using the goats as a selling tactic.

We have to meet for the assignment.. Group Ramrod (nice that I am a part of this group) and Jim is friendly and laid back. The first picture I know right where it is. I guess my travels throughout the day are paying off. We head to the Grand Theatre which is the oldest wooden frame Opera house in Europe. Giam is there to greet us and give us our next assignment. But, first vin.

We create on our own agenda and stop for the glass of vin.. Then on to the Cathedral Sainte Andre is absolutely breathtaking. The structure is unbelievable.

Freezing today, but we head to Pont De Pierre which is the bridge that connects new Bordeaux to the old part. The bridge is historic because it has 17 arches which are significant of the number of letters in Napolean Bonaparte’s name… It was freezing on that bridge, but we met Matthew and he was so sweet.

We are handed our next assignment… But, first Jim introduces us to Pastis. A black licorice liquor that originated in the south of France.  We already know that our next destination is The Water Mirror and we are not far.. At the Water Mirror we meet Tyler and he is ready to give us a lesson in the statues around the water mirror.

Jim has to pick his wife up at the airport, so Kyle and I venture to our last mission which is the Palais Gallien. This was quite a walk, but it was through a really cool area. It was tucked away right in the hub of the city. Julian is freezing and tells us the history of this structure quickly. . .

We walk to a neat bar where all the guys are hanging out. The guys all plan to meet later at Club La Plage. We walk back to the hotel to warm up. It was cold today!!

Tonight we go to Les Voutes for dinner. The amouse bouche was a potato soup and amazing. The ravioli (recommended by the waiter) was outstanding and then fish tartare was divine. Lamb for Kyle and pasta (what?? I know, but I am on vacation) for me. Some blue shots (because the table next to us was doing them, so Kyle says why not?) and dessert of crème brulee and a mango flan of sorts was so delicious.

Faux paux was asking for a to go box. I don’t eat pasta and I was full. This is what she gave me to put my pasta in ….. Still laughing at this one….

And then off to Club La Plage to dance until 6 am. Yes, 6 am. At one point, Tyler came back to our table and was punched in the face. I was flipping out and he was like “oh this happens all the time..” and heads back to get into it. (Watch later for the picture of his black eye…) Then, Giam is crowd surfing. Like arms out full on crowd surfing… Then, they drop him. He is laying on the floor like he is still surfing. . . Someone has to nudge him and say, “dude, we dropped you. You are on the floor.” Mic drop.
